The Engaged Classroom:
4 Questions to Consider when Lesson Planning
March 15, 2012
Lindsay Pepping and Michele Stupak
This session will introduce Dr. Robert Marzano’s research conclusions about ways to achieve engagement in the classroom. According to Marzano, engagement happens by carefully planning and executing specific strategies; it is not serendipitous. Four research-based questions have been proven to influence student engagement when they are used to guide lesson planning. Accompanying instructional strategies will be explicitly modeled and participants will consider how their own teaching aligns with these four questions.
